Dynamics of cell decisions during differentiation and reprogramming processes
Our lab is interested in cell decisions which lead to different cell fates. I participate in projects that seek to understand and to determine the differentiation of embryonic stem (ES) cells and reprogramming mechanisms in which terminally differentiated somatic cells are reprogrammed into induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells. As a physicist, my goal is to define the system using the language of degrees of freedom, phase space and phase transitions. My purpose is to offer an effective model in order to describe the cell decisions near the iPS state. Combining experimental and computational methods I’m looking forward to define the main regulatory factors in the system, to quantify their behavior and attempt to model the connections between them using systems biology approaches.
